Look Up Look Out
Jason's story
Told by his father, John Knight — a retired window cleaner. Shared with respect; the human cost behind Look Up Look Out.
My name is John Knight. I'm a retired window cleaner, and I'm writing as someone who's been exactly where you are — out on the job, poles up, just getting on with the day.
But I'm also writing to you as a father.
My son Jason suffered a devastating electrocution while using a water-fed pole system. The injuries he sustained were catastrophic and life-changing. As a family, we live with that reality every single day.
What makes this even harder is knowing he's not alone. Since 2022, other families and colleagues have faced fatalities and serious harm from poles and overhead electricity in the UK. These aren't rare accidents — they're real, repeatable, and they can happen in a split second.
We share Jason's story because silence doesn't protect anyone. Look Up Look Out exists so that window cleaners and exterior cleaners get a straight reminder: look up, take overhead lines seriously, and know you're not on your own when you need help.
